Underling claims blood of Pan Am flight 103 on Gadhafi hands

The Lockerbie bomber was directed personally by Moammar Gadhafi, the Libyan dictator’s former justice minister said. In 1988 270 people were killed when Pan Am flight 103 blew up and crashed to the town of Lockerbie, Scotland. Gadhafi was worried that the Lockerbie bomber would talk and expose the dictator’s complicity, so no holds were barred in securing the man’s return to Libya on "humanitarian grounds in 2009. Boss gets betrayed

Mustafa Abdel-Jalil told a Swedish tabloid Wednesday he had proof Gadhafi obtained the Lockerbie bomber, Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, to commit the terrorist act that brought down Pan Am flight 103. Abdel-Jalil, who was Gadhafi’s justice minister, resigned Monday in protest over Gadhafi’s violent crackdown against Libyan demonstrators demanding the dictator’s ouster. Libyan relations to the west were essential recently to Gadhafi though. He renounced weapons of mass destruction along with terrorism. He also admitted Libya was accountable for the Lockerbie bombing and paid compensation to families of al-Megrahi’s victims. He said Libyan intelligence officers are to blame for the Pan Am flight 103 incident.

The Lockerbie bomber

One of those rogue Libyan intelligence officers was al-Megrahi, exactly who was also head of security for Libyan Arab Airlines. There was an investigation done by the FBI and Scotland Yard on the whole thing. It found out the station manager for the Libyan Arab Airlines in Malta and al-Megrahi was to blame. Charges were filed against both suspects. The Scottish government did this in 1991. In 1999 Gadhafi double-crossed his minions and handed them over to Scotland. In 2001, al-Megrahi got convicted and called the Lockerbie bomber after trial was held in the Netherlands. It was not long before the Lockerbie bomber got revealed and sent back to Libya. This happened in 2009. This occurred due to a diagnosis stating al-Megrahi only had six months to live. He had terminal cancer.

Continuing strong as a master of individuals

Analysts are inclined to take Abdel-Jalil at his word, considering that such an order in the centralized Libyan dictatorship likely came from the highest level. Gadhafi made deals for instance a Libyan oil deal with British oil giant British Petroleum in order to make it so nobody would implicate him for al-Megrahi's release, in accordance with Abdel-Jalil. It seems al-Megrahi got off easy while living just fine in Libya. However, the Libya uprisings may not be good news for Colonel Moammer Gadhafi who swears he will fight to death.
