Carte Goodwin Senate appointment unlocks unemployment extension

Joe Manchin, West Virginia governor, appointed Carte Goodwin to replace Democratic Robert Byrd, who died June 28, within the Senate. Unemployed Americans have been waiting patiently for Goodwin to take the seat and change their lives. Unemployment benefits can be increased in length if the job bill passes with the final vote that everyone expects Goodwin to give. Old exchanged by young Carte Goodwin

At 92, Byrd died as the oldest senator ever to be in office and is now exchanged by Carte Goodwin, who’s the youngest senator at age 36. His first vote will be critical, according to CBS News, to senate. The Senate will vote on extending unemployment benefits Tuesday morning after Goodwin is sworn in.

Unemployed pawns in Republican agenda

The seat left vacant by Byrd has left Senate democrats without the 60 votes they need for the unemployment extension. The bill would re-establish an additional 73 weeks of benefits to unemployed workers who can’t discover jobs. The unemployment deficit would be much worse by longer unemployment benefits according to republicans. Democrats think the spending caused by additional unemployment benefits would stimulate the economy. 70 percent of adults are not that concerned about the deficit considering they are worried about their own employment, according to a Bloomberg poll shown on all247news.com.

Carte Goodwin against Joe Manchin for senator?

Carte Goodwin no gets to be in senate until the November general election comes along. Goodwin was already going for West Virginia’s Senate delegation according to the Huffington Post. His wife, Rochelle, is state director for Senator Jay Rockefeller, Goodwin’s new Democratic colleague. Rockefeller called the governor’s pick “unquestionably among West Virginia’s best and brightest” in a Friday statement. Goodwin is not expected to run in November. Joe Manchin, his previous boss, has already placed his dibs on the seat.
