Vision airlines takes front and center in spy swap

While US and Russian spies were being swapped on a tarmac, the U.S.A. was represented by a private charter jet. The business of Vision Airlines is usually trip travel, but they got the contract for this flight. You will find some politicians asking why a private company was used for government business.

Spies swapped using Vision Airlines

In a moment that looked like a scene from a spy movie than anything else, a Vision Airlines jet and a Russian Emergency Ministry jet met up on a tarmac in Vienna. Fourteen agents switched the planes – ten accused Russian agents and four “Western Sympathizers. Both planes took off at the same time, and one of the biggest spy dramas since the Cold War was probably over.

Why Vision Airlines got the gig

A few questions have been raised over why the US chose a luxury charter jet rather than an official airplane. An official Russian plane was used for the transfer. Was the U.S. Government trying to pamper the agents that were being brought back? Were all other planes in the United States already taken? It is possible that both the United States and Russia agreed to not use military planes, just in case. Either way, the choice of a luxury charter jet to swap spies is an interesting one. Is Vision Airlines donating the a number of thousand dollar fee, or is the government going to get an invoice. Donating may are the smarter choice, as Vision Airlines is getting so much website traffic today that their website keeps going down.

Keeping the relation improvement going

Reportedly, the President was continually briefed on most decisions involved with the spy swap. Avoiding as much conflict as possible seemed to be one of the biggest goals of the decisions made. Both countries have agreed to try and “warm up” relations.
