The iOS and iPad update has been delayed. The wait is because of some software bugs making iOS 4.2 difficult to connect with Wi-Fi. The release date ought to be sometime around Thanksgiving.
No iPad update until Thanksgiving
The Telegraph explains that there probably won't be an iPad update until November 24 when the iOS 4.2 is released. Nobody from Apple has made a statement about the delays. Many assume that it has to do with software bugs though. The supposed problem is with the connection program, where a defect interferes with Wi-Fi connections. There hasn't been a new release date scheduled although November 12 had been the original release date. The newest version coming out in November is the only thing that Apple had said. The release date had been never for sure.
New iTunes available
Though iOS 4.2 is being postponed, Apple fanatics can console themselves with a new version of iTunes. iOS 4.1 can still be used with the brand new iTunes 10.1. Of course, iOS 4.2 will be needed in order to access all features. AirPrint and AirPlay are both features of the new operating system update and iTunes update. Connections between Apple products are better with these programs. AirPrint will allow owners to use their iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Mac computers to send documents to their home printer over Wi-Fi. AirPlay will enable users to send streaming video from iOS devices to AppleTV boxes.
Point is to enable multitasking
iOS 4.2 has a main feature that should be remembered. It is all about multitasking with Apple devices which is much easier when the wireless connection between devices is improved. Still, the iOS update will be out, barring disaster, just before Black Friday 2010, which should be perfect timing for holiday shoppers.
