At the age of 39 and just five months after Brittany Murphy's death, her husband died. Simon Monjack, a screenwriter with credits that included the 2006 Sienna Miller film “Factory Girl” and also the independent feature “Two Days, Nine Lives,” was found dead in hist master bedroom of his home within the Hollywood Hills. There are no signs of foul play and seems like it was just a heart attack. However, according to E! News, various prescription medication were recovered at the scene.

Simon Monjack dead of ‘natural causes’
E! News reports that Brittany Murphy’s mother Sharon made the 911 call that brought paramedics to the home she nevertheless shared with son-in-law Simon Monjack. Sharon was the one who’d called 911 to bring aid for her ailing daughter during her final hours of life. Just as Brittany Murphy’s cause of death was determined to be from combining incompatible prescription medications, there is some speculation that Simon Monjack is dead for a similar reason. Until after the autopsy results, authorities will stick with the "natural causes" story.
Accidental was Brittany Murphy's death
Murphy’s cases of pneumonia and anemia and the combination of prescription drugs she was on for those illnesses was simply too much for her system to handle. Most of those prescription drugs actually belonged to her husband. Authorities at the scene of the Brittany Murphy investigation in December 2009 found Monjack to be a “despondent husband” who was doing all he that he could to help hold his family together during a hard time. The tragedy continues for the family with Murphy's husband being dead.

In the months between Brittany Murphy’s death and Monjack’s own demise, the screenwriter had a run-in with tax authorities that may have prompted him to put Brittany Murphy’s Hollywood Hills home up for sale. Simon Monjack had attempted to raise funds for the Brittany Murphy Foundation, but he did so without contacting the IRS beforehand to obtain nonprofit status according to E! News. The Foundation was really closed and Monjack had to return all donations he received.
