Susan Powell Nevertheless Missing, Idaho Remains Not A Match

There were hopes this morning that skeletal remains found in southern Idaho may be those of Susan Powell. However, investigators say the body was not that of Susan Powell, and also the West Valley, Utah, resident is still considered a missing person. To keep the search for Susan Powell going given that December of 2009, friends and family have chipped in instant cash.

Disappearance of Susan Powell

Susan Powell, a 28-year old mother of two, was reported missing in early December 2009. The entire family was reported as missing on early Monday morning. Susan Powell’s husband and two children did return to town on Monday afternoon. Josh informed investigators that he and the children had gone camping, and Susan Powell had been staying at home. The missing person’s report was filed when the kids did not show up to daycare. Susan Powell’s personal items, including cell phone and wallet, were all left at the house.

Susan Powell’s husband is a person of interest

The investigating police department named Susan Powell’s husband as a person of interest. The very same day that Susan Powell disappeared, her husband used instant cash loans to put several hundred miles on a rental automobile. Since the disappearance of Susan Powell, Josh has moved with his children to Washington state. There has been no arrest for Susan Powell’s disappearance, though investigators do say interviews with Josh just “create more questions than answers”.

Body in Ammon, Idaho not Susan Powell

Over the last weekend, a person looking for better cell phone reception near Ammon, Idaho, stumbled over a badly decomposed body. Because Ammon, just outside of Idaho Falls, is within a day’s drive of West Valley City, detectives contacted those investigating Susan Powell’s disappearance. Police departments on both sides of the border have confirmed the body found in Idaho is not Susan Powell. Because of the time forensic testing may take, it could take six weeks or more to identify the body found in Ammon.
