Steven Slater, a career flight attendant, came to the tipping point. During a day at the job, within the career field he had been in for more than two full decades, a traveler saw fit to abuse Steven Slater for doing his job. Slater, at the time a Jet Blue flight attendant, grabbed the intercom, went on a profane tirade of his own, opened the emergency chute on the side of the plane, hit the tarmac and took off. He was later imprisoned for reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, among other charges.
Plane to see he had enough
Jet Blue Flight 1052 was arriving at JFK International Airport from Pittsburgh according to CNN. As the plane taxied toward the terminal, a passenger stood up to retrieve his bag too early, and he was told by flight attendant Steven Slater he had to sit back down. The bag may have fallen from the overhead bin or the traveler struck him, but Slater was hit by something. The man refused to apologize and swore at him. Slater took over the intercom, cursed the cretin, and announced he was quitting. He opened the emergency chute, and took some beer from the galley before exiting the plane. Hours later, he was arrested at home.
Cabin pressure
When Slater was not working, as outlined by MSN, he was rarely home. Slater was often flying to Thousand Oaks to take care of his dying mother, according to his roommate, which Slater also did for his father. According to the New York Times, his mother had also been a flight attendant. His father, who passed away from Lou Gehrig’s Disease, had been a pilot.
Customers are wrong more often than they think
Individuals within the service trades should be treated better than they are. The general public could be absolutely horrid, as everyone who has ever worked a day in their life within the service industry knows. It costs nothing to be polite and cooperative, even if mistakes do sometimes get made.
