Times Square saw the huge fanfare around opening the Pop Tart shop, called Pop-Tarts World, just this week. The brand store offers every little thing from Pop-Tarts cuisine to build-your-own Pop-Tarts. At $ 1,000 per square foot, Times Square rent is a huge expense for the business, which has not yet decided whether the Pop-Tart shop is going to be a permanent fixture.
Inside the Pop-Tarts store
There is just a little bit of every little thing offered up at the Pop-Tarts World. You are able to get just about anything at the Pop-Tarts café, including Pop-Tarts covered celery. A vending machine stocked with 23 Pop-Tarts flavors allows customers to create their own pack of Pop-Tarts, at $ 1 per pastry. Finally, the build-your-own Pop-Tarts bar lets you create just about any Pop-Tarts topping and flavor that you can think of.
Pop Tart store for brand visibility
Kellogg’s decided to open the Pop-Tarts shop in Times Square because they feel it is a “mature brand”. Sales lately have been flat for this breakfast bar pastry. Pop-Tarts sold $ 481 million worth of the pastries in 2009.
Baking your own Pop-Tarts
Customized Pop-Tarts are accessible outside of Times Square. Pop-Tarts at home are less expensive and healthier than the repurchased ones. Homemade Pop-Tarts could be made without the high fructose corn syrup and for less than 20 cents worth of ingredients per pastry. Combine 2 cups flour with 1 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 cup butter, 1 egg and 2 tablespoons milk. Roll out the dough and cut it in Pop-Tart sized rectangles. Spread just about any filling you need on half of the rectangles. Use the un-spread half of the rectangles to top the filling, then seal it by pressing the edges with a fork. Fridge the filled dough when you preheat the oven to 350. Bake the Pop-Tarts for 20 to 25 minutes.
