The Other Guys has nice reviews

”The Other Guys” is the new cop film that came out on Friday. The film stars Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and Steve Coogan. The reviews for “The Other Guys” tended to lean on the good side. ”The Other Guys” is really good for both Ferrell and Wahlberg considering they have both made some pretty bad movies in the last few years. Adam McKay, director of “Anchorman,” “Talledega Nights” and “Stepbrothers,” directed this film.

Old plot with new people in ‘The Other Guys’

Within the movie, after shooting Derek Jeter by accident, a cop (Wahlberg) is given work that he is way too good for. He starts working on white collar crime with a new partner, Will Ferrell, who’s an accountant in forensics. They get wise to an evil businessman (Steve Coogan) and his nefarious scheme and take him down. Hilarity ensues. The plot has been done already, but what plot hasn’t. The actors make all the difference between a good movie and bad movie.

The reviews are good

So far, the film has a rating of 79 percent good reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. Ferrell just lately starred in “The Goods,” and “Land of the Lost”, both of which got less than 30 percent in their ratings. Wahlberg, on the other hand, has not had a film get more than 32 percent since 2007. The critics are being fairly kind to this one, saying that when it is certainly a idiotic comedy/action flick, it is still good fun. According to Kurt Loder from MTV, the movie isn’t really all that intelligent but is a great comedy for summer.

Perhaps worth the watch

If you really have to see a goofy comedy, this is probably the movie to go for. One surmises that with the grim economic forecasts, oil spills, and anything else all of us could probably use a laugh or two.
