Anita Hill is a Brandeis University professor living outside the media spotlight. However that changed when Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, right wing activist wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, left Hill a curious voice mail message. In accusations that she stands by to this day, Hill said Thomas sexually harassed her in testimony throughout the sitting justice’s senate confirmation hearings. Ginni Thomas called Hill out of the blue Oct. 9 and left a message, which Hill reported to campus police, suggesting that Hill apologize for calling out Clarence Thomas so long ago.
Sexual harassment and Thomas within the same case
Sexual harassment in the workplace was what Hill accused Clarence Thomas of. This occurred In 1991 during Supreme Court confirmation hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Thomas had been accused by Hill of pressuring her on dates, making lewd comments and talking about pornographic films to her. This she did, reports CNN, in hearings televised to all of America. Thomas had been angered at the hearings which he called a “high-tech lynching” and “a national disgrace.” He denied that anything Hill said was true. There had been a 52-48 vote with the all male committee. This was in his favor.

The October 9 message from Ginni Thomas says, based on ABC news:
“Good morning Hill, it is Ginni Thomas. I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and also the years and ask you to think about something. I would love you to think about an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought. And certainly pray about this and hope that one day you will help us understand why you did what you did. O.K., have a good day.”
An apology isn’t something Anita Hill is willing to make. This is because she said there were not any lies about Clarence Thomas made.
Thomas taints Supreme Court with politics
In a statement Virginia Thomas confirmed leaving the message. She said she did it as a “peacemaking gesture.” She didn’t make any other comments. No timing comments were made. According to the New York Times, Ms. Thomas is known for national politics. She is strong right wing activist too. This year she founded Liberty Central, a political group focused on portraying policies of the Obama administration as “leftist tyranny.”. Since she is the spouse of a Supreme Court justice who’s finances through anonymous right wing donors, numerous wonder if what she is doing with Liberty Central is even lawful.
