Oregon man changes title to Captain Awesome

Captain Awesome used to go by the wholly uninspiring name Douglas Allen Smith, Jr. Smith desired a change of sorts, and thought that changing his title to something with a little more kick would do the trick for him. With a little legal wrangling, he left his old identity behind and became Captain Awesome. Captain Awesome must have applied for a loan to fund the lawful title modification.

Douglas Allen Smith has become Captain Awesome

Douglas Allen Smith Jr. is twenty-seven years old and is from Eugene Oregon. He made the decision he needed a change as he is currently an unemployed cabinet maker. In honor of his preferred TV show, "Chuck," accounts the Eugene Register Guard, he changed his title to Captain Awesome. Smith altered his title to Captain Awesome because Devon Woodcomb, played by Ryan McPartlin, had been given the nickname because "a bad nickname builds character". The title change required him to face a judge though. The judge didn't really understand at all.

Winning was easy for Captain Awesome in the courtroom

Title modification cases at the University of Oregon law library were what Smith used in representing himself. He was allowed to modify his name and modification his signature for making a smiley face with left and right arrows by the judge. The OR Department of Motor Autos accepted his new signature and printed it on the back of his driver’s license. His bank was the only one who wouldn't accept his signature. This is because it would be too easy to forget the glyph.

The name does not matter

Despite the ease with which some people can modification their lawful titles, some odd titles go just a bit too far. Several years back, a judge in New Zealand made a 9-year-old girl a ward of the court during a custody dispute between her parents, who had named her Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii. The judge was not amused and ordered a modification of title. Violence and Number 9 Bus stop were both allowed in New Zealand for name, reports CBC News. Of course, Yeah Detroit, Keenan Got Lucy and Sex Fruit were all forbidden.
