CDMA network compatibility will determine the Verizon iPhone release date
Some say how the Verizon iPhone release date could be in October of this year. Apple is also thought to be working on a thinner, faster iPhone. Both of these rumors are grounded on the belief that Apple is coming up with a CDMA wireless network processor.
Qualcomm has confirmed that they’re working on a CDMA chip for Apple, but it would be very difficult to launch the chip in 2010. Throwing cash at an in-development product with easy cash loans can’t speed up production enough to have the CDMA chip by 2010. If Qualcomm really is manufacturing the Apple CDMA chip, the iPhone would need to be re manufactured to work with the new chip.
Verizon iPhone might release in 2011
Verizon iPhones face technological challenges. A Verizon-compatible iPhone only has the reality that Apple “appears to be” working on it. Apple and Qualcomm have made it no secret that they’re working on a CDMA or WCDMA chip.
Apple “appears to be working on” a Verizon iPhone, but that doesn’t mean it can be released this year. Most industry watchers agree that if it happens, the Verizon iPhone will release in 2011.
