Shear Genius is supposedly intended to be a competition about hairstyling. A little bit of controversy has been stirred up by season 3's Shear Genius winner on Bravo.
Whether or not she really should get it, the Shear Genius winner will get $ 100,000 in cash advance prize money as well as a photo shoot with Allure Magazine.
Shear Genius winner : Brig
Brig was clearly not the best hairstylist on Shear Genius. However, Brig was certainly the best competitor on Shear Genius. Positions that win on reality shows are generally those that will provide the best TV, not really the person who deserves it.
It makes sense that that Brig, with her crazy outfits and big bow addiction, would be picked to be the Genius Winner so she won't have to borrow money any longer to help with her bow addiction.
Shear Genius and the way it works
Shear Genius has a hairstyling theme much like Top Chef and Project Runway. Every week the changers are given one short cut challenge where they aren't eliminated and one elimination challenge.
Each challenge for elimination has a style that the competitors much match before sending them down the runway to be seen by a panel of judges.
The drama surrounding Brig
On Shear Genius, the drama bucket of the show all went to Brig. She usually worked for the drama instead of the competition with her big bows and making herself the center of controversy. Matthew Morris and Janine Jarman were the other two finalists that were more liked by watchers but Brig's buns with extensions won within the end. Many individuals think the "triumph over adversity" story by Briggs was pushed too much.
Whatever these reasons happen to be, Brig managed to get herself on the show and then to find herself winning the Shear Genius competition.
