Dancing With The Stars results: are they rigged?

The Dancing With The Stars 2010 voting for the first round of competition wrapped up last night, and the DWTS results have left many fans stunned. In fact, the Dancing With The Stars results were so unpredictable that some fans are already asking if DWTS results are rigged. The stars that had the lowest judges scores, like Kate Gosselin, are nevertheless on the show. The first star eliminated was Shannen Doherty, who had a middle of the road judging score. Did voting really favor a star that seems to need money now, or did the producers have a black hand in this DWTS result?

DWTS Results

Had the judges been the only ones tallying scores, Buzz Aldrin and Kate Gosselin would have been battling it out to stay on Dancing With The Stars. When the Dancing With The Stars voting was done, the DWTS results had Shannen Doherty and Pamela Anderson at the bottom. Given the choice of two stars that had had decent scores from the judges, Shannen Doherty’s fan base evidently just did not vote as much. Many fans are now wondering how many thousands of Dancing With The Stars voting fans chose Kate Gosselin over Shannen?

How DWTS results are tabulated

Dancing With The Stars results are added on a half-and-half system. Half of the Dancing With The Stars results are determined by the judge scores, the other half by call-in votes. Put simply, Buzz Aldrin’s moon-walking cha-cha-cha needed twice the call-in votes of Shannen Doherty’s dance. The exact tabulation formula for Dancing With The Stars results is not disclosed publicly by ABC, but it’s certain that the internet loans some credence to the idea the formula might not be entirely fair.

Dancing With The Stars 2010 voting rigged?

As with most “reality” shows, the producers of Dancing With The Stars do have some say in how the show goes. While their exact role in the production of the show remains mostly in the filming, partnerships and staging, some are wondering if they’ve over-reached with DWTS Season 10. With her low scores and a seemingly frustrated fan base, many believed that Kate Gosselin was a natural choice for DWTS results elimination. Buzz Aldrin was the other DWTS results “favorite” for elimination, with the biggest point deficit for making up. Instead, one of one of the most popular dancers – Pamela Anderson – ended up in the bottom two along with Shannen. Are the producers of DWTS playing with the results to create more drama? Does the mother of eight have enough fans to keep her on the show? What is your opinion?
