Leno claims he and Conan O'Brien both got screwed

Jay Leno didn’t pull any punches last night – he made it clear that “Conan got screwed, and I got screwed”. Jay Leno also revealed that he fully expects Conan O’Brien to start his own late-night show after Sept. 1. Conan O’Brien had been paid a $ 32 million debt settlement relief payment so Jay Leno could take back the Tonight Show.

Jay Leno show excursion didn’t go well

When Jay Leno left the Tonight Show to Conan O’Brien, NBC gave Jay Leno an early variety program. The ratings for shows after Jay Leno’s dropped almost off a cliff after the prime-time show premiered. After only a few months, NBC kicked O’Brien off the Tonight Show so they could give it back to Leno.

Leno chats with joy Behar

In a turn-the-tables moment, HLN network’s Joy Behar interviewed Jay Leno when she was in the Tonight Show green room. Beyond his thoughts on Conan, Jay Leno also talked about his philosophy of comedy and the business of television. To explain his lack of remorse about taking back the Tonight Show, Leno told Behar “The reason how business pays many cash is, when you get screwed you’ve something left over (sic)”. Never one to put all his eggs in one basket, Leno flew to Vegas to perform his stand-up show after taping both interviews.

Conan O’Brien goes on the live circuit

Conan O’Brien cannot return to TV until September, according to the terms of his small personal loan from NBC. Rather than sitting around or plotting his new show, Conan O’Brien has taken his show on the road. Tickets for Conan O’Brien’s live show are selling out quickly all over the country. Will Conan O’Brien return to live TV, as Jay Leno expects? With the amount of fans and supporters, it wouldn’t be too hard to do. There is not yet any confirmed word about a network show for Conan.
