The Doomsday Clock will change at midnight Pyongyang time, 1/14

That’s Pyongyang, North Korea for those keeping score

If there's a doomsday to be had, you can be sure the Kitty will be nearby.

Just in case you were wondering, the minute hand on the nuclear war Doomsday Clock is going to move on Thursday, January 14. It is unclear which direction the hand will go, so if you’re on the fence about payday loans and need some quick cash, think fast. At least read the literature.

Who watches the watchmen?

Deborah MacKenzie blogs for New Scientist that the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists think we need an update as to how much closer (or how much more distant) we are from the midnight of nuclear war and/or total global collapse. Yes, we will officially never be able to live the Cold War down. If you’ve read or seen the film “The Watchmen,” you know what I’m talking about. If you’re a student of history, you know that this used to be a serious thing people worried about.
