Randy Neugebauer cries BABY KILLER over health care bill

It might be that Republican Rep. Randy Neugebauer might have just become the poster baby for why Texas should go ahead and secede from the Union: to hide public officials like Randy Neugebauer from view. Neugebauer, who has since admitted to shouting “Baby killer!” in the House of Representatives after the health care bill passed, objecting to anti-abortion panic over the bill. He is now a colleague in shouting nonsense just like Rep. Joe Wilson, who shouted “You lie!” at the President during the State of the Union, and Neugebauer apparently couldn’t resist the temptation for making himself look like an idiot. It was apparent that he shouted at Rep. Bart Stupak the “baby killer!” after the Michigan Democrat voted in favor of the bill.

Neugebauer claims it wasn’t aimed at Stupak

Neugebauer apologized to his colleague in the House anyway. His justification for his remarks – how the health care bill is “a baby killer” – may be his last-ditch effort to squeeze campaign dollars out of anti-abortion groups. Maybe he needed some debt relief?

He Who Shouts Baby Killer might be steamed over receiving less than $ 3,000 from the anti-abortion gallery (dollar figure taken from a Center for Responsive Politics survey). OpenSecrets.org purports that anti-abortion groups might be enticed to get out their checkbooks. A lot of opponents of the health care bill are none too pleased. Former G.W. Bush speech writer David Frum says “It’s Waterloo all right: ours.” The Fire Nancy Pelosi petition is circulating, but it’s too little too late for those who vowed to fight Democratic health care reform tooth and nail.

Who fattens He Who Shouts Baby Killer’s war chest?

As per OpenSecrets.org, “the National Auto Dealers Association, National Association of Home Builders, Quantum Energy Partners, National Beer Wholesalers Association and National Association of Realtors” are big Randy Neugebauer bankrollers. That’s just in case you want to know.

Is this the type of thing that Texans are happy with?

Despite whether someone agrees with Randy Neugebauer, is anyone really impressed with this “baby killer” routine? Mr. Stupak is far from being a baby killer. Acting like a neurotic, emotionally unhinged, and panicking teenager benefits no one. They draw ridicule, not just from the media, but from people who understand adult behavior.

Shouting “Baby killer!” at Vietnam veterans didn’t exactly make people popular decades ago, either. In both cases, it has every little thing to do with knowing nothing about what you’re talking about and giving in to the dumber side of human nature. Randy Neugebauer would have been additional endearing if he’d been more transparent. Holding up a sign begging the anti-abortion lobby for money would have been more direct, and perhaps a lot more respectable. He could have also looked into payday loans with no fax as a quick source of funding, though Mr. Neugebauer would have to pay it back.
